10 Reasons to ALSO Workout on Weekends Too

Do you workout five days a week and take the weekends off? Are you sure you want to do that? Here’s how I look at it. You work Monday through Friday, eight hours a day and are completely exhausted. Most of the time you force yourself to workout after work/school or before. I find that stressful. And isn’t  stress one of the main factors in weight gain?

Let's be honest, the biggest reason why most people skip exercising is due to the crunch of time. While managing personal and professional life, we hardly get time to take care of our health, which should be our top priority.

If you are among those who don't find time to engage in any kind of workout throughout the week, then there is good news for you. As per science, even if you exercise over the weekends, it can prove to be beneficial for you.

After torturing yourself throughout the week rushing to workouts, work/school and life you crash on the weekends. In my opinion, weekends are the best time to workout. If you want to workout five days a week, fine! Just space it out to make it less stressful. Take two of your busiest work days off to rest and workout on the weekends instead.

Here are ten good reasons to workout on the weekends.

  • You can still sleep in.
  • You workout on your time.
  • Working out on the weekend will help you make healthier choices throughout the day.
  • You can workout with your friends or family who also have the day off.
  • You can workout outside of the gym. (hiking, swimming, golfing, dancing, biking, walking the dog)
  • You have time to relax afterwards instead of rushing back to work or school.
  • Working out puts you in a better mood.
  • If you feel like indulging on a Saturday night or Sunday meal, you won’t have any guilt.
  • You have more time to reach your goals.
  • It’s hard to come up with excuses not to workout on the weekend.

  • I exercise everyday even on weekends. Exercise provides us the energy and strength to face the whole day and also it's the easy way to look after our body and mind. It boost our brains to pay more attention in everything we do. Exercising in the morning only take twenty to thirty minutes. So exercise regularly even on weekends to face your day with strength.

As per the new finding published in a peer-reviewed journal, JAMA Internal Medicine, working out even only on Saturdays and Sundays can make you healthy.

A team of researchers from Harvard University School of Public Health and universities in England and Australia closely monitored 63,591 adults before coming to a conclusion.

It was found that rather than living a sedentary life, people who perform 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity only on Saturdays and Sundays had a 30 per cent lower risk of death from different kinds of chronic illness. Their risk of cardiovascular diseases decreases by 40 per cent and the risk of cancer lower by 18 per cent.
